Stuart Hack
Ceramic Artist
BIOGRAPHY
A native of Baltimore,
Maryland, Stuart began his studies of ceramics
at the Potters’ Guild
and later at the Baltimore Museum of Art with Olin
Russum, a Baltimore ceramics icon. His training
in ceramics during the 1960’s included both
hand building and throwing. For 30 years his talent
laid dormant as he focused on family and a career
as a pension consultant.
Life altering
events brought Stuart to Southern California where time was available
to satisfy the renewal of his artistic soul. Studies with
the talented potters and staff at the Irvine Fine Arts Center became the inspiration and
moral support for his exploration into the artistry of ceramics.
The California mountains, canyons, landscapes
and native history became the influencing canvas
for Stuart’s hand built pieces. In each handcrafted
vessel, the play of the sun on the deserts, hills,
valleys and mountain landscape; the ever changing
vistas, can be felt as his art work is carefully studied.
Stuart’s one-of-a-kind
art has been juried into exhibits at the Irvine
Fine Arts Center, the Orange County Fair, the Norco Southwestern
Art Show and Long Beach Arts Show. His work can
be found in collections across the nation. Currently, Stuart’s work is offered on this website
and at Diddywopps and Keeffers Gallery in Monkton, Maryland.
